Accompanying her mother and grandmother on visits to art galleries, her senses were quietly ignited by the worlds of art and sound. Naturally drawn to expressive forms like rhythmic gymnastics, brass band, and the traditional Japanese koto, she came to understand early on the power of sound to move the body. In 2011, at the age of 19, she stepped into the world of club culture and began her full-fledged journey as a DJ the following year. Her debut was more than just a foray into music—it was a declaration of belief. Witnessing how good music could dissolve boundaries of language, gender, age, and social status, and bring people together in joyful dance, she became convinced that this was pure peace. Driven by her own experience of being saved by the magic of music, she made it her mission to share that magic with others. JUNKO’s DJ style is a sonic adventure rooted in Techno and House, effortlessly transcending genres and time. It is emotional, physical, and boundlessly free. Each carefully selected sound instantly shifts the energy of the floor, linking moving bodies with open hearts. Her sets go beyond the act of simply playing music—they are immersive experiences. Layer by layer, her DJing weaves together sounds that give birth to unique “new landscapes” that exist only in that moment, in that space. With over 150 live performances annually, she has brought her unique sound to a wide range of scenes—from major clubs in Tokyo to lounges, hotels, department stores, and restaurants. Her work has expanded beyond Japan to cities across the country and abroad. She has served as an official DJ for Corona Sunsets Office and provided musical direction for global brands such as HARRY WINSTON, Lamborghini, adidas, and OLD NAVY. Currently, JUNKO is also active as a bag designer, PR specialist, casting director, and influencer. Her presence shines brightly across social media and fashion magazines alike.
