Dan Azzo
Biografía
Drawing inspiration from house pioneers across the globe, Dan’s sets travel through the spectrum of house music in a high energy blend of thumping basslines, dramatic breaks, and uplifting builds. Spotlighting the sounds of Chicago and queer forebearers of the genre whenever live, he strives for audiences to feel overcome by nostalgia, joy, and sweat. What differentiates Azzo from his contemporaries most, however, is his fluidity as both a selector and performer, and his attunement with the energy of the dance floor enhanced by his ability to float between differing genres, styles, and emotions with ease.
Unsurprisingly, Azzo’s musical eclecticism has quickly translated into accolades throughout his short but exceptional DJ career. Boasting a resume almost as long as his decades spanning library, he’s played just about everything you could hope for as a local DJ on the rise, earning himself support slots for the likes of Carl Cox, The Illustrious Blacks (US), The Shapeshifters (UK), Kiddy Smile (EU) and more. A true figurehead in Sydney’s nightlife, his love of dance has taken him all the way to the main stage of Sydney’s recent Mardi Gras party back in February, with Azzo going on to close out the southern hemisphere’s biggest and longest-running LGBTQIA+ celebration to rave reviews.
Azzo's musical journey has left few mountains untouched, and now, he's setting his sights on the world. In July and August, he embarked on a European tour, performing for audiences in London, Milan, and Amsterdam. His appearance at Amsterdam Pride, where he played on the iconic canals, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, surrounded by the energy of hundreds of thousands of people. With a debut track slated for release in the coming months, it seems his 2023 is set to get a whole lot busier. Be sure to follow him via Instagram and SoundCloud to stay up to date on all gigs and projects.
