CalloohCallay is a multidimensional music project that blends emotional depth, expansion and optimism within technoid soundscapes. Their music stands out with complex arrangements, evolving structures, and a signature sonic identity. The duo pulls you into a vortex with their basslines that expand dynamically, keeping the listener on edge in a raw and intense journey. Long before focusing on producing their own tracks and playing DJ sets, the multi-instrumentalist duo took a deep dive into the art of performing live techno, combining drum computers, synthesizers, and MIDI controllers, creating numerous hypnotic happenings 2018/2019. CalloohCallay first started with broken gear and a tight budget. Despite that, the two musicians embraced trial and error, experimenting extensively. While Basti has incredible know-how in music theory and melodic instruments, Nico is renowned for his continuous output in the rhythm section, specializing in drums and percussion. In their studio near Stuttgart, CalloohCallay are now focusing more on working on their own releases. At the same time, they are resident DJs at the iconic Romantica – the heart of Stuttgart's underground techno scene. While the region’s economy is shaped by the automotive industry and the German Mittelstand, the electronic music scene has largely remained a part-time, community-driven effort - perhaps due to a mix of structural and cultural factors. As a result, many talented artists operate with a sense of creative modesty rather than self-promotion. In this context, CalloohCallay remains one of Swabia’s best-kept secrets, though that may soon change with their debut EP set for release in spring 2025.
