Descripción
MÄZEN returns with an expanded summer edition, taking place on July 29 and 30 at Spreefeld Bootshaus, our home for this gathering, with a carefully curated program of artistic interventions, ambient and experimental listening sessions, tailored drinks, and natural wine.
Open to the public from 4:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
For this edition, the focus turns to contemporary art.
The showroom will present Hypertext and Hyperflesh by Colombian multidisciplinary artist Andrea Otoya Covelli, with interactive works exploring the body as a commodity in contemporary digital culture. Combining a ten-metre jacquard textile with a hand-operated scrolling mechanism, Hypertext draws a historical link between early weaving technologies and today's image-based economies.
Reflecting on beauty standards, online visibility, and self-commodification, it examines how the body has become both a medium and a resource within systems of endless production and consumption. Hyperflesh explores the body as a site of desire, consumption, and social value. Through oversized inflatable sculptures covered in synthetic fabrics and luxury-inspired patterns, Andrea presents what she defines as the “pneumatic body” — a hyper-feminized, voluptuous figure shaped by plastic surgery, media representation, and male desire. Blurring the boundaries between playful object and commodity, the work questions how bodies are constructed, displayed, and consumed.
The exhibition is co-curated by Placebo collective.
The musical programme unfolds across two days, bringing together premiere performances, DJ sets, and special B2Bs from a diverse selection of artists.
