Wax Thief
Biografía
Wax Thief was born out of the long covid lockdowns of Melbourne, where like many producers, Tom fell in love with garage as the UK Garage revival started to shine a new light on the genre. Tom had been producing a range of house music genres for nearly a decade at that point, but garage was the first time he really felt a sound and it's culture around it, resonate with him.
Wax Thief's productions are heavily inspired by the original UKG and Speed Garage sounds of the mid to late 90s and his name is a homage to his love for collecting and playing vinyl, often sampling straight off his collection in an attempt to find the rarest samples.
Since his arrival in the scene it has been a whirlwind for Wax Thief, with his most recent track Top Killa getting plays by some of the biggest DJs such as Interplanetary Criminal and Sammy Virji at Park Life’s main stage, Job Jobse at Dekmantel, Dj Seinfeld at Lost Sundays and Yung Singh at Boomtown to name just a few.
Wax Thief has also started cracking the club scene in Naarm with shows supporting UKG’s biggest international acts such as Dr Dubplate and DJ Q and local artists such as Osmosis Jones.
Wax Thief is just getting started so watch this space.
