It all started with singing at an early age, before she tried her hand at guitar and created her first musical compositions. Later, this apprenticeship enabled sa+ga to found Baraka, a duo with trance, trip-hop and drum'n'bass influences, which has made a name for itself on the French electronic scene in recent years. She was also inspired to explore new forms of expression at the turntables. At the end of 2019, as the world was about to go into lockdown, she decided to learn the finer points of mixing, then spent part of her confinement exploring the progressive trance, deep techno and psytrance scenes. When the clubs finally reopened, sa+ga was ready. She played at parties organized by the Hors-Sol collective, or at emblematic venues such as Macadam (Nantes), Machine du Moulin Rouge (Paris) or Cabaret Sauvage (Paris). These experiences have taught her how to build a mix as if she is telling a story, laying down tracks like chapters in a book. This concept of telling a story is at the heart of sa+ga's work because, alongside her music, her interests lie in the mechanics of narration, in what circulates between what is told and what is written. In 2020, she launched a call for participation aimed at female and/or gender minority artists on the French electronic scene. This resulted in three months of poetry workshops, which later gave rise to the book Au-delà du club, a collaborative, multidisciplinary research centered around nightlife. Similarly, between art and research, sa+ga launched a series of fanzines called Flashes, which set out to decipher the challenges of the electronic scene while reimagining nightlife. A work on writing and on words which she delivered through poetic performances at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Salon de Montrouge and the Sturmfrei Festival in Bagnolet. But whether through music or poetry, what drives sa+ga above all is transmission. Each of her projects aims to convey values and generate positive energy. Because she is convinced that this is what it takes to reinvent party norms and to create dialogue within the electronic scene.
