MYDIR is an artist rapidly etching his distinctive imprint and influence upon the electronic scene. His deep emotive sound and precise production prowess saw his first EP 1987 soar into the top ten of the Afro House charts and announce his arrival in some style. His distinctive take on the deep house sound interweaves spacious grooves with afro rhythms, organic percussion, and melodic hooks that compel listeners to the dancefloor. As a DJ, his show Electronic Motion (initially on Data Transmission radio and now Drums Radio) has welcomed the finest DJs from the melodic and Afro House scenes solidifying his reputation as an astute selector. MYDIR's musical journey draws inspiration from his traverses through New Zealand, Asia, and Australia, where he not only explored but also forged meaningful connections. His foray into Ibiza's club scene as a promoter gave him insights into the workings of the industry, while a front-row seat at Luciano's mesmerizing dancefloor performances at Space would serve as the catalyst for MYDIR to make his own mark on the dance industry. In the studio, MYDIR expertly transmutes these global influences into coherent dancefloor weapons, so it is perhaps no surprise his second EP on INNU records was aptly entitled ‘The Traveller’. Taking his cues from a diverse range of inspiration from Stevie Wonder to Carl Cox and Black Coffee, MYDIR’s sound fuses dancefloor dynamics, musicality, and the organic allure of live instrumentation. Having honed his production skills at the School of Electronic Music in Manchester he set up base in the city. His output since then has gained critical acclaim with MYDIR’s remixes being selected on Beatport’s Best New Afro House charts and his releases finding a home on highly regarded deep labels such as INNU, WeAreDyll Records, and Bosom. As his career has developed, MYDIR has cultivated a reputation as a discerning selector making appearances alongside renowned DJs such as Enoo Napa, David Morales, and Budva Stava. His curation skills have seen him behind the decks of iconic clubs such as Ministry of Sound in London, The Arch in Brighton, and Rainbow Club in Birmingham, and his radio show continues to go from strength to strength. Fast forward to the present and MYDIR plans to widen the impact of his imprint and sow the seeds of his vision with the establishment of his new club night Wisdom in Manchester. The night will be a home for the modern dancefloor aesthetics of Afro House and deep house in the North West propelled forward by one of the sharpest talents in the scene.
