Mia Mai
Biografía
Mia Mai is a multi-disciplinary music artist based in the North West who has quickly established herself as a unique and innovative presence in the electronic music world, captivating audiences with her distinct sound.
Mia's DJ sets are a journey in genre fusion, where she expertly navigates through heavy dubstep, choppy breaks, and the driving beats of techno. Her performances are dynamic, energetic, and constantly evolving, reflecting her deep understanding of the electronic music landscape. This talent has led her to share the stage with some of the industry’s most influential names, including Ross from Friends, Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase, Elkka, Oppidan, Sammy Virji, and Sicaria.
Mia’s artistry extends beyond the decks. As a classically trained harpist, she introduces a captivating layer to her music, blending the intricate melodies of the harp with her electronic productions. This unique fusion of classical and contemporary elements is at the heart of her upcoming debut album, An Evening With Quarry, set to release December 1st. The album is a bold exploration of her artistic vision, merging her classical roots with cutting-edge electronic music in a way that pushes the boundaries of genre and style. This album is deeply rooted in Liverpool’s music scene, with the record being named after one of Liverpool’s grassroots venues, QUARRY.
In addition to her creative work, Mia is a passionate advocate for safe spaces on dancefloors and for FLINTA communities within the electronic music scene. She believes in creating inclusive environments where everyone can express themselves freely and safely, making her an influential voice in the movement for greater diversity and equity in the industry.
Mia is also deeply committed to nurturing new talent. As a key member of QueenswaY CIC, she authored a comprehensive guide on how to DJ and mentored a large cohort of students from the ground up. Under her guidance, these students have gone on to perform live, demonstrating the impact of her mentorship and her dedication to empowering marginalised communities within electronic music.
