David Cumplido — also known as Bako — is a Berlin‑based DJ, producer and curator whose music blends house, minimal and techno with Latin‑tinged percussive textures. Emerging from Hanover’s DIY scene, he began collecting vinyl and organising open‑airs at 17; early support from promoter Stefan Schreckenberg led to a Tante Hanne residency and, at 19, a breakthrough afterparty slot at Apollon’s Park alongside Sven Väth. David relocated to Berlin to study Audio Engineering & Music Production at SAE, refining production, signal flow, band‑recording and mixing. Over six years he honed his DJ voice at venues including Watergate, Wilde Renate, Weekend, Hoppetosse and Club der Visionäre, while co‑founding the Danube project, which developed into a respected events agency. He later formalised his curatorial skills through vocational training in event management at Skatehalle Berlin. In 2022 he worked as club manager at Weltspiele, a cultural and club project in his hometown of Hanover — a cosmic space uniting music, art, and community, where he contributed to shaping its vision and atmosphere from within. David’s sound is dance‑floor alchemy: playful yet grounded. He weaves spacious atmospheres with repetitive, hypnotic percussion, combining warm analog Chicago‑house grooves and minimal aesthetics into long, evolving arrangements that move from subtle tension to high‑energy techno peaks—always prioritising groove, clarity and emotional release. Now on the Omana roster, David continues to release music, perform internationally and prepare new productions and an expanded European tour for 2026.
