Descripción

Established in 1885 and designed by the famous Brisbane architect Richard Gailey, The Wickham began life as the Oriental Hotel. Over the years, she’s reinvented herself time and time again, and has witnessed her fair share of floods, renovations and social change. In 1996, The Wickham rode the crest of the wave of social progression by becoming a gay bar. Today, The Wickham continues to be a trailblazer, transforming herself into a place people of all identities can enjoy, through some of the biggest physical transformations the venue has seen to date. Today, The Wickham’s iconic sign sits sentinel over busy Wickham Street. At night, her lights will light up in rainbow colours, a fitting salute to her past, present and future.
