Descripción
Established in 2015, The Pitt provided space, support and skills development for new food businesses and performing artists. Based on Pitt Street in Leith, it was an immediate hit with locals, establishing a loyal customer base and becoming a hub for the community. Due to planned redevelopment, The Pitt closed in October 2022.
In 2023, The Pitt re-established itself as a Not-for-Profit Community Interest Company and is owned and operated by the Granton Project. Now based at West Shore Road on the Granton Promenade and part of the North Edinburgh regeneration project, The Pitt, Granton will again provide space, support and skills development for local individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses to set-up and grow. Occupying a significantly larger area, The Pitt’s bold vision is for a new social, cultural and grassroots space where ideas can be trialled, tested and brought to life in a supportive, low-barrier, community environment.
With a planned year-round indoor market, a permanent outdoor street food market, a coffee shop, a bar and an event space with a regular programme, The Pitt, Granton will be an entrepreneurial hub as well as an open, safe, collaborative space for the whole community, providing significant economic and social benefits.
