Located in downtown Los Angeles, The Mayan was originally built in 1927 and open in its current incarnation since 1990. The stage and dance floor are built with hardwood and the club is decked out with an extensive intelligent lighting system. The Mayan has three main rooms: a lobby and lounge decorated with Mayan artwork and architectural flourishes, the larger two-level Main Room designed to resemble a Mayan temple and an upstairs lounge with a narrow dance floor catering to slower, groovier styles of music like disco and rare groove.
