Descripción

Spike Island is one of the UK's largest centres for contemporary art, housed in an 80,000 sq ft former industrial building on Bristol's harbourside. Alongside its internationally recognised gallery programme, Spike Island is home to more than 70 artists' studios, making it a place where new ideas are developed as well as presented. Its public programme regularly brings together contemporary art with live performance, experimental music, sound art, moving image and interdisciplinary practice. From immersive performances and artist-led happenings to late-night events, club collaborations and site-responsive interventions, Spike Island provides a platform for work that challenges conventional formats and explores the space between visual art, performance and music. As a working creative community, the venue offers audiences direct access to artists and artistic processes through exhibitions, performances, open studios and special events. Whether hosting internationally acclaimed practitioners or emerging local artists, Spike Island champions experimentation, collaboration and new forms of cultural production in Bristol.
