PORTAL COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS
Portal is a thoughtfully curated space built around music, connection, and community. We want to create an environment where people feel welcome, respected, and free to be themselves. These shared agreements establish a baseline of respect and care that makes this kind of experience possible. By attending a Portal event, you agree to uphold these norms and help one another do the same.
1. Respect each other and the space – We do not tolerate any form of violence, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, harassment, intimidation, or other discriminatory or abusive behavior. Treat fellow attendees, artists, and staff with respect, follow staff directions, and treat the venue and its equipment with care.
2. Consent is non-negotiable – Ask before touching someone, respect personal space, and take “no” for an answer. No unwanted advances, leering, comments about people’s bodies, or following someone who isn’t interested.
3. Minimize conversation on the dancefloor – If you feel like chatting, head to the bar or another area away from the dancefloor. Keep the dancefloor for dancing!
4. Limit phone use on the dancefloor – Please keep photos and video to a minimum and never photograph or record someone without their consent. If you need to use your phone, step away from the dancefloor.
5. Party responsibly – Check in with yourself, respect your limits, stay hydrated. Harm reduction supplies are available in the bathrooms. If you’re too impaired to respect other people or participate safely, call it a night.
6. Look out for each other – If someone seems unwell, uncomfortable, or in need of help, check in if it feels appropriate or alert a staff member.
7. Let staff know – If something feels off or someone crosses a line, tell a staff member. We want to know, and we’ll take your concern seriously. Look for safety monitors with glowing bracelets or other venue staff.
8. Violating these agreements will result in removal – Anyone engaging in harassment, discrimination, non-consensual behavior, or other serious misconduct will be removed from the event. We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove anyone whose behavior compromises the safety or experience of others.
