Hollywood Theatre is a classic art deco movie theatre, reimagined as a flexible arts and entertainment space. Operating as a neighbourhood theatre from 1935 to 2011, architect Harold Cullerne designed the theatre with neon signs reflective of the streamlined Jazz Age. It evoked the glamour and elegance of the 1930s, a time when Vancouver was growing rapidly, building other landmark structures such as Lions Gate Bridge, the Burrard Bridge and City Hall.
