Hairpin Arts Center: At the Intersection of Art and Activism. Hairpin Arts Center's mission is to empower, engage, and transform our communities through the arts. With a goal to impact our community through the arts, we strive to support artists and projects that bend the path of justice toward a more equitable and vibrant society. Empower: Through the arts we empower artists to explore, create and present art that expresses their experience, their community and vision for the future. In all activities, we seek to connect with Integrity, Intentionality, and Accessibility. We provide a safe and welcoming platform for art to address the ever-changing issues of humanity. Engage: We give voice to diversity of thought and expression across art forms and levels of experience. We offer a forum for artists and community activists to come together around shared causes. We honor the history, present needs, and future goals of the neighborhood surrounding Hairpin. Transform: We promote ongoing, respectful dialog and shared understanding. We believe in the power of the arts to transform our communities, foster objective and caring criticism, a positive role for art in civic life. We unify and strengthen communities by shining art’s light on injustice to inspire transformation.
