Descripción

The harbor station is almost 100 years old. It is a relic of the facilities of the Altonaer-Ottenser-Industriebahn or the Hafenbahn Altona. The construction of the single-story brick building, primarily used as a workshop or break room for the railway workers, took place after the reorganization of shunting traffic with the establishment of a harbor railway administration in 1909/10 and electrification of the track in 1913, as part of various expansion measures after World War I (from 1919). The old track bed is directly behind the house, though without tracks, and leads about 200 meters to the Schellfischtunnel, which ends underground at Altona station. It served as an office building for the Altonaer Hafenbahn until the 1970s. In the 1980s, it was used as a practice space for bands, around 2000 a small kiosk moved in, but it didn't last long. The building then stood vacant for a long time until it was discovered in 2005 and opened on May 1, 2006, as the "HAFENBAHNHOF" cafe, bar, and live club.
