The Godesburg - steadfast for 800 years Godesburg Castle was built 800 years ago on an extinct volcano. This ground, which once breathed fire, gave it strength and energy for the course of history. The mountain was first mentioned in a document in 722 as Wotansberg. There is also evidence of a Roman settlement in an altar stone walled into the Godesburg.
