Built high on the banks of the River Danube, Petrovaradin Fortress is the ancient fortress site originally occupied by the Romans, and re-built by the Austro Hungarian Empire to defend against the Turks in the 17th Century. These days Petrovaradin Fortress is most well-known for playing host to Exit, the biggest music festival in South Eastern Europe.
