Egyptian Lover (Gregory James Broussard, born August 31, 1963) is a pioneering American electro-hip hop musician, DJ, and producer from Los Angeles, famously known as the "King of the 808" for his signature use of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. A key figure in the 1980s West Coast electro scene, he rose to fame with 1984 hits like "Egypt, Egypt" and helped define the LA party/hip-hop sound.
