Spatial Awareness - Jake Muir

Hello! We are suuuuper stoked that closing out our August 2026 programming is none other than the ambient architect, Jake Muir. Jake Muir is a Los Angeles based artist, DJ, and field recordist working with found sound. He approaches his practice as a listener first, carefully curating, layering and processing sounds that help him deconstruct and contextualize his lived experiences and influences. Using investigative software methodologies, DJ techniques, and dextrous engineering, Muir makes deeply personal sonic art that fluidly traverses genre, encouraging reflection, and sometimes prompting psychedelic states. We welcome Jake into the lounge for a 3 hour guided meditation of sorts into the proverbial goo. Without lifting a foot, you are invited to take a walk through the trees and gaze into the psychedelic wallpaper of the lounge and transport yourself somewhere to perhaps find the thing you’ve been looking for… it lies deep within the spell cast inside the Altec cabinets... Spatial Awareness is 9 pm-12 am. Jake Muir is the DJ. Our door is donation-based with a suggested sliding scale of $10-$20 - no one will be turned away. Donations go directly to New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia and are greatly appreciated if you have the means to contribute!
