Welcome back friends
This week we have two of the kindest, most hilarious, creative, and dangerously addictive selectors west of the Delaware river. With a long and extensive list of experience in music, programming, curation, and of course, DJing - we are over the hill to welcome the double trouble that is DJ Slimey and Teeyam for a 3 hour sonic exploration into sounds unknown.
Teeyam is a first-gen Iranian-American DJ, producer, and curator shaped by the underground scenes of SF, NYC, and now Philly. Dark, playful, and a little unhinged, his sets move through acid, electro, techno, wave, and breaks — chasing the strange connective tissue between sounds. Founder of They're Here (SF) and House of Baba (a platform for experimental SWANA artists), former Lot Radio regular with a Mixmag Best Mixes 2021 nod, and half of Phreakers with John Barera. Now in Philly, holding it down with a residency at Umbira Arts.
DJ Slimey is a multidisciplinary artist from Texas, a decade deep in NYC's experimental art and music underground — working across sound, sculpture, and light before landing behind the decks. Their sets favor the strange and obscure, sliding through abstraction, tension, and release without ever settling into one genre. Described as "weirdo and esoteric, yet always groovy and psychedelic.”
Together, Teeyam and DJ Slimey share a love for obscure records, unexpected sounds, and each other. Fresh off a trip through Europe, they're bringing back a bag full of new finds — come along for the ride.
Spatial Awareness is 9 pm-12 am. DJ Slimey and Teeyam are the DJs.
Our door is donation-based with a suggested sliding scale of $10-$20 - no one will be turned away. Donations go towards paying the artists and organizers, and are greatly appreciated if you have the means to contribute!
