La Source is becoming a solid pillar of the soundsystem scene in Brussels. With the Skank Corner nights, we aim to take you back to the roots of soundsystem culture !! Expect only the finest Jamaican oldies & goldies from ska to rocksteady, early reggay, roots & more foundational sounds !!
Once again we are stoked to bring you great guest selectors, taking a step further across European borders !!
SALVO
All the way from Bologna, Italy, Salvo fell in love with Jamaican music at a young age. Driven by his passion for the foundations of this music he has been collecting calypso, ska, rocksteady and early reggae ever since. He used to host his own show, To The Foundation, on an independent radio station.
He is one of the founders of the Bologna Calibro 7 Pollici collective, gathering collectors of Black music since 2013. They have been hosting many international DJ's of R'n'B, soul, funk and Jamaican oldies. They also have organized concerts for legendary artists such as Ken Boothe, The Skatalites and many more.
In 2021, with another crew, Salvo has co-founded and built the Voodoo Moon Soundsystem, a handcrafted valve-powered soundsystem dedicated to authentic Jamaican soundsystem culture.
KiLiAN
A strong name in the Antwerp scene, Kilian has been collecting original Jamaican 45's since 2011. He has been playing records across Europe at many major events, sometimes along with fellow Antwerpenaars Joël or Glenn Cole.
In 2022 he co-founded the Reggaematic crew together with Dylan Van Looy and Kris Van Beethoven who was our guest at the first Skank Corner Night in January !!
MC TiLLABERY & selectors TOMSTEADY, DR KiTCH & CHOMA
Active together or on their own through several musical ventures since the early 2000's, these soundmen from Brussels will spare no efforts in sharing their love for Jamaican oldies as the SKANK CORNER crew !!
