Queensway Collective CIC invite you to celebrate part one of their 4th birthday party; the calm before a surely stormy club night on 4th December at 24 Kitchen Street, featuring a headline set from the genre-defying CCL - visit our RA profile for tix for this one. We kindly ask that you read all the information on this page before booking. For part one, we are taking over one of the finest buildings in the land, the grade II listed Picton Reading Room at Liverpool Central Library. Built in 1879, the room features a magnificent neoclassical exterior with Corinthian columns and an interior domed ceiling and sky light, lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves housing thousands of rare books. WHAT TO EXPECT: Soft, dreamy, horizontal listening that will play tricks as the sound naturally spirals and reverberates around the circular room and dome ceiling, a unique listening experience amplified by the beautiful hand built Golden Lounge HiFi Sound System. 90 minutes of continuous sound that merge and overlap from each performance. You will be transported through evolving soundscapes by three of Merseyside’s finest artists: - Mimi (experimental & ambient DJ soundscape) - Alta Sound (performing a live sound bath) - Ranga (live flute and modular synth) Let there be blankets, cushions, beanbags. We highly encourage you to bring your own softies if possible, as well as a bottle of water and even a flask of your favourite calming tea - sadly the library’s cafe is currently closed. IMPORTANT INFORMATION TIMES: - Doors will open at 13.00pm, sounds start at 13.15pm. - Please arrive no later than 13.15pm to keep disruption to a minimum - we encourage you to lock in for the full 90 minutes and avoid leaving the room where possible (except to use the loo or for access reasons, of course). WHAT TO BRING: - Please bring a blanket / cushion / yoga matt with you if possible. - Bring a water bottle - refills from the tap in the bathrooms. - A flask of your favourite calming tea or hot drink if you wish! A REMINDER: - Please be respectful of the space - no alcohol, vapes, or anything that could cause damage; the building has been beautifully preserved and we intend to keep it that way. - Please remove your shoes if you'd like to sit or lie in the middle of the space. - As with every Queensway event, everyone is welcome and we won’t tolerate hate or discrimination. In the unlikely event of this happening, please speak to a member of the team. - This event is for people 16+. CAN YOU LEND US LARGE FABRICS OR BEANBAGS? EMAIL HELLO@QUEENSWAYCOLLECTIVE.COM ACCESS INFORMATION: - There will also be seats arranged around the outer centre - you do not have to lie or sit down in the middle section of the room. - The Picton Reading Room is accessible to wheelchair users. Take the lift from the ground floor to the first floor, turn left and continue just past the reception desk. - Liverpool Central Library has automatic entrance doors, accessible toilets, gender neutral toilets, baby change facilities and a Changing Places facility. - The lighting in the event will be minimal and will not move, strobe or flash. - Listen to the library’s audio guide here. - If you have any specific access concerns, please email Nick at: hello@queenswaycollective.com
