Mo'Kalamity & The Wizards + Pirates Crew + Team DAMP

Of Cape Verdean descent, Mo’Kalamity grew up in France and now lives in Paris. Steeped in Caribbean and African-American rhythms, she quickly made a name for herself in the world of reggae thanks to her talent as a singer, songwriter and composer. Together with her band The Wizards, she delivers powerful roots reggae with a strong message. Through her spiritual lyrics, she encourages us to become aware of our life’s mission and to fulfil ourselves with humanity. She reminds us that only love helps us move forward on this path and enables us to reveal our deepest essence. She had already achieved success with her debut album Warrior of Lights (2007), and with her second album Deeper Revolution she was nominated three times for the Cabo Verde Awards, setting the tone for her career. In 2013 she founded her own label, Sofia-Théa Records, on which she released Freedom of the Soul, among other works. For her most recent album, Shine, she travelled to New York and Jamaica, where she collaborated with renowned musicians and producers Sidney Mills (Steel Pulse), Andy Bassford (Dennis Brown, Monty Alexander), Karl Wright (Monty Alexander) and Rupert McKenzie (Bushman, Eek-A-Mouse, Meta & The Cornerstones). ••••• The evening will be opened by Pirates Crew, the Ghent-based sound system crew that has been delivering authentic reggae and dancehall selections for over twenty years.
