At 15, he had his first experience spinning at a school dance — a 15-minute set that changed his life. From that point forward, he pursued his craft with unwavering dedication, earning a deal with Dance Mania record label and releasing the first of many mixtapes and vinyl albums. He soon launched his own label, Subterranean Playhouse. His Ghetto style garnered the attention of promoters and producers alike, and his introduction into the rave scene propelled him to international stardom.DJ Slugo boasts an extensive catalog with over 600 songs, 50 CDs, 10 DVDs, and approximately 50 vinyl releases, an impressive body of work that led Underbeat Magazine to dub him the “ghetto father of the American dance floor.” He is the founder of Blok Club DJs and the recipient of the 2025 312 Music Humanitarian Honoree award for his contributions to the culture. In 2026, he published his first coloring book, Color The World, released his Longevity album supported by a 20-date national tour, and has a new Chicago album slated for release November 2026.
