Welcoming a few special guests from NYC for a quadruple bill of electro-acoustic experimentation and creative music-making. Percussionist and sound artist Lesley Mok arrives with a new album entitled “transient,” out this month via American Dreams Records. A follow-up to their debut, a celebrated ensemble album in 2023, “transient” explores electronics and percussion with amazing emotional dexterity, tone and texture. Their experience in film and theatrical scoring shines through, as does a unique expression of abstract techno. We can’t wait to hear the rest of it, and hear it manifest live. On the road with Mok is a new vocal artist duo dubbed DREAMCLUB_RADI0. Members isabel crespo pardo and eden girma are both multi-dimensional artists in their own right. crespo pardo is an NYC-based Latinx vocalist, composer, improvisor working in voice, field recording, electronics & poetry to create intimate, sensorial collages. Eden Girma is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and songwriter who has recorded under the name aden. Two dear comrades and exceptional artists living and working in Detroit--King Sophia and Zekkereya El-Magharbel--will each play solo in support. King Sophia is a consummate music-maker and storyteller who’s graced our stage countless times over the past 2+ years. Zekkereya El-Magharbel is a Los Angeles-born trombonist, educator and interdisciplinary artist who leads the ensemble Center for Melodic Research.
