Jazz is Dead presents Cortex with Adrian Younge and J.Rocc

Legendary jazz funk ensemble Cortex headlines The Lincoln Factory on Oct 11th, alongside Adrian Younge and J.Rocc. Originating in Paris in the mid-'70s, Cortex perfected an exquisite blend of deep funk, fusion-tinged jazz and effortlessly smooth groove. Their discography found a second life as the source material for innumerable hip-hop producers, who mined their catalog for immaculate breaks, soulful instrumental passages and more. Adrian Younge joins them, offering a perfect counterpoint. His work originates in hip-hop, but this spring he released "Younge," an orchestral album that builds on a producer's workflow. It's an unequivocal masterpiece, blending nimble boom bap and Morricone-eque sound painting. Beat Junkies founder J.Rocc completes the lineup. One of the original turntablists, J.Rocc has set the standard for the form since the early days of the genre.
