Based in Chiba, Nobu has spent more than two decades developing an approach to DJing that resists fixed genre boundaries, drawing from techno, house, electro, ambient, and beyond to create sound worlds entirely his own. His long-running Future Terror party, founded in 2001, became a vital gathering point for Japan’s underground through its fiercely independent spirit and devotion to music over reputation, while his Bitta label continues that same philosophy in recorded form. His international reputation grew through years of touring and repeated visits to Detroit, and in 2010 Marcel Dettmann invited him to play at Berghain, where he made a lasting impression on a crowd that largely did not know him at the time. He returned in 2013 to an equally strong reception, reinforcing a reputation built on range, intuition, and an ability to completely reshape the room over the course of a set. Opening the night is Infra founder Profiler, whose abstract sonic language is built around tension, precision, restraint, and hypnosis. His sets unfold through subtle shifts in rhythm and texture, gradually drawing the room inward while leaving space for unexpected turns. Limited capacity.
