We are excited to announce the second night in our Holocene series of live techno! Rrose was brilliant for our first one and we are buzzing to announce that Texas legend Convextion aka Gerard Hanson will be headlining! Keeping his profile purposefully under the radar, Gerard Hanson’s work as a producer has become coveted purely for the effect it’s had on his listeners. First appearing with a slew of dub techno formed structures under his Convextion alias Hanson later became something of a hero within the tight knit electro community for the iconic and shimmering machine funk aesthetic of his E.R.P. attributed productions. Hailing from Dallas, Texas he’s part of a micro community of producers who are all enthusiastically doing their own thing Stateside while European labels like Frustrated Funk, Bleep43 and Semantica house the records. Gerard Hanson’s first releases under Convextion debuted on Detroit label Matrix in 1995; geographically the label was the perfect placement considering just how much Hanson denotes the futuristic, melancholic and deep sounds of his own aesthetic to the influence of the Motor City’s pioneers Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Now of a 30+ year vintage, Convextion’s earliest work is future-proofed by a timeless vision of classic techno derived from the Texan artist’s adoration of Juan Atkins and Basic Channel as much as ‘80s synth-pop. To those keeping abreast of US techno imports at the time, and those attempting to fill in the gaps after the fact, both 12”s have gone down in legend as incredibly scarce but beautiful examples of the Motor City spirit divined from afar. w/ Madeera Madeera (Alicia Marie Eno Juhl) is a pivotal curator and artist deeply embedded in the foundation of Detroit’s electronic music community. As the manager and creative steward for minimal detroit, the influential label and collective founded by techno pioneer Terrence Dixon, she works to preserve a specific sonic heritage. Her role is defined by a commitment to an aesthetic that prioritizes industrial textures and stripped-back rhythms, bridging the gap between the music's historical roots and its contemporary evolution. She currently plays under her label minimal detroit audio and Detroit Grit. Performing under the alias madeera, she has established a reputation as a dedicated vinyl-only DJ. Her refusal to utilize digital formats is a hallmark of her performance style, emphasizing the tactile discipline and analog warmth inherent in traditional record culture. Her sets are characterized by deep, hypnotic, and hardware-driven sounds that mirror the minimal detroit philosophy. In addition to her solo work, she and Brent Shay perform back-to-back sets, blending their shared affinity for the city's raw, industrial energy. She has played sets in NYC and Detroit with upcoming Dublin and UK shows . Beyond her technical roles, Alicia Marie is an advocate for the authenticity of the underground. Her approach is rooted in the post-industrial atmosphere of her city, focusing on the health and growth of the local scene. Through her management of minimal detroit and her focused precision as madeera, she remains a key figure in ensuring that Detroit’s underground sound remains uncompromising and world wide and Jeans and Lifestyle
