Gallery returns to Miscellania on August 28th for the second edition of our club series. Focusing on the country's finest selectors playing long sets in our favourite club in Naarm, this time we welcome stand-out exports and local pillars Mabel, Thrill (fka suki) and Black Dave, three artists widely known for their forward thinking dance music productions and performances.
Mabel’s intuitive expression across her productions, DJ sets and recent label explorations has seen her emerge as one of Naarm’s most in demand acts. Recent years have seen her complete the festival circuit in Australia including A3, Mode, Ballista, Pitch and Diega, with a Hopkins Creek debut coming up. Three Europe/UK tour runs have seen her play for some of the most influential labels, parties and clubs across the continent such as Mala Junta, Harmony Records, Fold London, Macadam Nantes, OHM Berlin and many more. On the production side, her distinct sound has caught the attention of label heads like Roza Terenzi and more recently Sleep D through their Step Ball Chain and Butter Sessions imprints respectively. She’s also launched her own label ‘doglandyia’ where she has continues to champion her unique sound, taking full control of the sonic and visual identity for her self-directed releases. Mabel is an artist who expertly balances groove tension and character, and we can’t think of a better place than Miscellania for a masterclass from one of the city's finest.
Thrill is the freshly revealed identity of the DJ and producer formerly known as suki. Riding off the back of a successful decade-long project under the previous moniker, Thrill launches into new sonic territory after 18 months of studio experimentation. Recently debuting on Amsterdam’s Kalahari Oyster Cult with his ‘Smoke Fuelled Fantasies’ record, Thrill embodies the immersive and eudaemonic experience of losing yourself in the fogginess of the dancefloor. A winter tour has seen Thrill making his way down the east coast of Aus, launching the project playing clubs, warehouses and DIY spaces in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Hobart and Melbourne to celebrate the debut release, connecting with fans old and new. An artist that has received continued support from some of the globe's most prominent selectors, expect relentless Thrill on August 28th as we welcome him for his second show in Naarm/Melbourne since the recent debut.
Black Dave is an emerging act bursting out of the scene here in Naarm. As a DJ, promoter and producer, Dave has carved out a presence in the community through a dedicated approach to dance music. Well known for his versatility, constantly blending various styles and BPMs, he takes musical inspiration from a diverse array of styles both old and new. His productions have landed releases on HOUZ, Transition, Dionysian Mysteries, Deadline Records as well as OBSCUUR and they continue to be played by many across the globe. Recent peak time performances at Beyond The Valley and Intercell Melbourne has seen Dave reach new heights with his DJing, so we’re stoked to have him throw down on August 28th.
As part of our club series at Miscellania we’re putting on a panel discussion for those interested in learning more about the different pillars of the industry across DJing, production, touring, labels, management and more. It’ll run prior to the club doors opening and RSVP is free. More info on that to come but feel free to sign up via the link in our bio.
