May Swoon has performed in Bristol, London and Cardiff and has been played on BBC Introducing and Radio Cardiff. with LAURA PHILLIPS Laura Phillips (b. Bristol) is a non-smoking Sagittarius, often found loitering around the M48/Severn Estuary. She is an artist working at the intersection of visual music, expanded film and performance. Her work explores obsolescence, the commons and information infrastructures. She likes to shoot/ hand-process 16mm photochemical film, sit with microphones listening to the world, and learn about radio waves. Laura has created visual backdrops and music videos for a variety of musicians, including Annie Gardiner, Osgled, Viridian Ensemble, Kinlaw and Elder Island. This event’s live VJ set is a brand-new experiment; inspired by a workshop with Nick Ronin that took place at CULTVR this summer. She also hosts a monthly radio show, TTF RADIO – SHIFT, which is inspired by “all things sonically weird” from the region formerly covered by the HTV broadcast remit of Wales and the West Country. IVOR WOODS Welsh dark wave electronic artist from the heart of the Valleys. Ivor Woods (musical alias of Rachel Crabbe) pushes the boundaries of what can be expected with electronic music. She weaves in her experiences as a queer woman, exploring themes of sexual experimentation and passion. Her music draws inspiration from Art School Girlfriend, James Blake and Deftones. FORCE MAJEURE Force Majeure is the experimental alias of Cardiff-based Nick Ronin, a veteran of the UK DIY rave scene. A long-time producer and performer across aliases including Killdren, Villain and Ronin, Nick’s Force Majeure project dives into the abstract side of club sonics: exploratory and unpredictable. His last release Unexploded Device (on Grey Meta) is a volatile fusion of off-kilter techno, granular field recordings, and hardware-driven intensity. Here he will present a version of his audiovisual show that also incorporates more downtempo works from his two albums. AMOUSEMENT Amousement is the moniker of Marcello Ruggiu, an Italian-born, London-based electronic music producer, sound engineer, and Ableton Certified Trainer. Under the name Amousement, his work blends jungle, drum & bass, ambient textures, and braindance with elements of breakcore and experimental electronic music. His productions are characterised by intricate rhythms, detailed sound design, and a strong emphasis on low-end and percussive textures. He has released music on various underground labels and collaborated with a wide network of electronic artists across Europe. Alongside his studio work, Marcello has built a long-standing presence in the live electronic scene. He has performed at festivals and events across the UK and Europe, including appearances connected to Glastonbury Festival and WOMAD, and has been involved in audiovisual performances and experimental live setups. He is also a core member of the Crux collective, contributing since its early stages by curating and performing at events focused on cutting-edge live electronic and audiovisual art. Over the past decade, Amousement has been a regular presence in underground rave culture, delivering breakcore-oriented DJ sets and hybrid live performances.
