Few labels left a mark on underground house music quite like Cécille Records. Founded in Mannheim, Germany by Nick Curly and Marc Scholl in 2008, the imprint became a defining force of the late 2000s, championing a sound built on groove, musicality, and movement at a time when minimal techno dominated much of Europe. Alongside artists such as SiS, Markus Fix, Robert Dietz, Johnny D, and Butch, Cécille helped shape what became known as the Mannheim Sound, earning widespread acclaim from DJs, dancers, and critics alike. On August 2, that legacy arrives at Superior Ingredients as Nick Curly brings his celebrated Cécille event series to Brooklyn for a special rooftop session. As both a producer and label founder, Curly has spent more than fifteen years at the forefront of underground house music. Through Cécille and sister label 8Bit Records, he has introduced generations of artists while maintaining a catalog defined by depth, soul, and dance floor functionality. His own productions, including releases on Defected and a long list of respected imprints, have made him a fixture at clubs and festivals across Europe, the Americas, and beyond. Joining him is New York house institution Harry Romero. A key figure in the city's dance music history, Romero's catalog stretches across decades, with influential releases on Subliminal, Defected, Toolroom, and Saved Records. His work helped shape the sound of modern New York house while earning him a place among the genre's most respected DJs and producers. Also on the bill is Andrew Azara, one of the most promising names emerging from the current minimal and underground house scene. The Irish born, Barcelona based producer has built a strong reputation through releases on Cécille, Djebali, Politics of Dancing, Microhertz, and Moan. His recent EP Right On Time on Cécille reached the top of the Beatport charts, adding another milestone to a growing discography supported by artists including Jamie Jones, PAWSA, The Martinez Brothers, Archie Hamilton, and ANOTR. Completing the lineup are local favorites GENPOP and aazure, representing Brooklyn's thriving underground community and setting the tone for a day that bridges generations of house music culture. From one of the most influential labels of its era to artists continuing to shape today's dance floors, this rooftop gathering brings together a lineup deeply connected to the past, present, and future of underground house music.
