Alternative School presents: RELAY w/ Shigeto b2b Todd Modes + ameera b2b Sugar

We’re back next Friday night with RELAY, four selectors meeting in two back to back sets. Shigeto and Todd Modes share the booth first. Both come from a deep appreciation for hip hop, jazz and beat driven music. Shigeto’s work draws on jazz, hip hop, live percussion and electronic music, while Todd Modes carries a similarly wide background into his own cosmic, soulful take on house and dance music. Ameera and Sugar close things out with an all vinyl back to back. Ameera is a Detroit vinyl selector whose sets pull from jazz, jazz fusion, boogie, disco, funk, hip hop and 2000s R&B, with records that pair in unexpected ways. Sugar digs in the same world, trading soulful, rhythm forward selections alongside her. Two selectors on wax, each record answering the last.
