Come join us on a Journey into Sound and Light: Ep 010 This will be our tenth Journey into Sound and Light gathering, and it’s been great to see this community slowly grow since our first one in 2023. This summer, join us for an evening of slow moving sounds and analog/audio-reactive visuals on Sunday, July 26th. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Museum of Modern Renaissance. This space is a former Masonic Lodge that has been turned into a Temple of Art by Ekaterina Sorokina and Nicholas Shaplyko. Doors open at 6:00 pm and we will have three performances lasting from 7 to 9 pm. Come early to reserve your space as we expect to be at capacity. Sounds will be created by the artists; Sara Adkins, Faelow, and Colin Stevens. Blktrmlne, Emma Lucille, and VJ Zombie will visually transform the space with their projections. There will be a mix of seating and floor space to get comfortable. Please bring props like pillows, blankets or yoga mats to sit/lay on if you would like to be cozy. This is a space for you. A space to slow down, be present and feel. This is your Fels. About the Artists Sara Adkins makes sound with her guitar and laptop, blending Tidal Cycles live coding with electric guitar looping. Beginning as a classically trained guitarist, her music has evolved into a unique conglomeration of glitchy ambient techno with classically inspired melodies. Also an engineer at heart, Sara incorporates generative and algorithmic composition into her work, and loves pushing synths to their limits to create gnarly timbres. Faelow is a Boston-based producer of ambient and downtempo electronic music, focusing on immersive stereo images, experimental textures, and blossoming ethereal tones. Faelow’s work evokes the strange beauty of aquatic seascapes, drawing on a blend of organic samples and synthetic oddities. Colin Stevens is an electronic artist who blends guitar, granular synthesis, and resampling to create emotive ambient pieces. Erica Gaeta (@ericagaeta) aka Blktrmlne (@blktrmlne) is a multidisciplinary artist and projectionist based out of Boston, MA. She is a resident VJ and visual art curator at @infraboston. Her exploration of dark and edgy abstraction synchronizes with the frequencies of sound. Her body of work explores deep thought and broad unknowns. She is most interested in how different modes of expression serve as vehicles in channeling energy and forces both physical and metaphysical. In her creative and professional practice, she works to both transform and create space for others to find greater connection to themselves, and the world, while opening up to discovery and awareness. Emma Lucille is a multidisciplinary illustrator from New England, known for her work that evokes a sense of wonder and invites viewers to explore new experiences. For this event, she collaborates with VJ Zombie, blending her live-drawn visuals with his generative digital animations creating a dynamic, evolving experience. Lucille’s digital illustrations respond to the ambient music, shifting in sync with the soundscapes. This collaboration invites the audience into a fluid interplay of image and sound, immersing them in a sensory journey of discovery and reflection. VJ Zombie VJ Zombie is a Boston-based visual jockey and video artist from Madras, India, whose work explores the transformative power of light and its ability to reshape spaces. Since 2010, his practice has intersected music, visual storytelling, and technology. With a minimal aesthetic and a meticulous approach, he crafts surreal, dreamlike experiences using projection mapping, custom-built LED fixtures, and generative, audio/motion-reactive visuals. His recent collaboration with illustrator Emma Lucille combines her live drawings in his VJ sets, creating a dynamic interplay between stark, code-based generative geometric forms and organic, hand-drawn lines—intricately choreographing a dance between the two in real time.
