Subtyl is an art collective founded in 2011 in Paris. We produce our own event in off locations — warehouses, cinema studios, open airs. Our aim is to offer an alternative to taditionnal events by inviting different kind of arts : djing, vjing, performance art, industrial designs… to set up a unique experience. Our artistic reflexion always begins with a reaction we want to provoke to the audience : how to let go with the social masks, how to create a feeling of community between people, how to distract the center of attention from the DJ to the crowd. In 2014, Subtyl was spotted by french magazine “L’Express” as “the people reinventing nightlife” alongside Concrete and La Mamie’s. In 2016, Trax Magazine reinforced this status by describing the collective as “breaking the rules of clubbing”. More recently, Mixmag UK did a 2 pages features on underground collectives in France, centered around Subtyl's approach to creating a safe spacce. Last but not least, Subtyl is a non-profit.
