In search of more gender equality behind the scenes, Ajuma took on the role of promotor and created Parotia — a club night born out of a collective desire to dance together 𓀣𓀕𓀥𓀠𓀥. With her heartfelt yet empowering approach she shaped Parotia into a club night that bridges familiar and new sonic territories, creating a musically rich environment that encourages everyone to move and connect. Parotia provides space for both local and international talent, live music and experimentation. The ‘Parotia’, (a Papuan bird-of-paradise) uses changing colors in its black plumage to attract attention, connect and impress others. The name “Parotia” is inspired by the these dances, observed in nature across many animals, which use movement as form of expression. The outcome is a magnificent dance that undoubtedly resonates with many on the dance floor.
