Founded in 1998, LOW RES is a Detroit-based independent arts and media imprint working across music, visual art, design, and events. Hatched out of underground DIY culture and the early internet era, LOW RES has spent a long time making things its own way and building projects slightly outside the usual lane. Over time that has evolved into a range of different projects, from an extensive vinyl back catalog and underground events to festivals, installations, live-streamings, apps, and other artist-led programs. The thread through all of it has been an interest in experimental culture, the aesthetics of identity, and work that reflects on the shifting relationship between technology and reality.
