Deep Sea Dweller (known as DSD) is a music night devoted to the electro sound emanating from Detroit in the 90s, and the name itself pays homage to the seminal Detroit electro phenomenon, Drexciya, who are famed for their prolific 10 year period where they released some of the best electronic music ever made, based on a concept where technologically advanced aquatic warriors descended from slaves that had been thrown to the sea, thrived underwater. The night started and continued in Aras na Gael and strived to bring high quality electro from local producers and djs to an audience of both experienced dancers, and those that had never previously heard this sound. No other electro night exists in Ireland. DSD incorporates aquatic visuals, lighting and ambience with Ireland’s most talented up and coming djs, with those that are currently making waves, and artists that were the vanguard of the Irish electronic scene, djing, producing and running labels in the 90s and early 00s. DSD has a strong aesthetic and commitment to bring, and keep bringing the highest quality electro to dance floors in Galway, Dublin and beyond.
