Info

Established in 2010 in East London, Crèche has evolved from a modest gathering into one of the most iconic and enduring rave parties in London’s electronic music scene. Founded by Alexis Raphael and friends, the party began as an intimate Sunday session in Shoreditch, aiming to offer a fresh, eclectic alternative to the prevalent warehouse parties of the time. Within just five events, Crèche’s popularity surged, drawing crowds of up to 1,000 and lining the streets of Brick Lane. Crèche distinguished itself by utilizing unique venues with outdoor terraces and rooftop gardens, such as Cargo, The Brickhouse, and The Queen of Hoxton, fostering a vibrant daytime party atmosphere. Its music policy spanned from disco to cutting-edge house, creating a distinctive sound that resonated with a diverse audience. A pivotal moment came in October 2011 with “The Big One” at Ministry of Sound. At the time, Crèche took over the outdoor courtyard car park, transforming it into a unique day-party space, with extended sets by Jamie Jones and Kerri Chandler—cementing its place in London’s house music history. After a hugely successful run of 2,500-capacity events featuring everyone from Dixon to Damian Lazarus and Derrick Carter, Crèche took a hiatus in 2013, concluding with the sold-out “Crèche of the Titans” at Pulse. During the break, the team hosted events in Ibiza and other unique locations. The party returned to London in 2016 with intimate gatherings, staying true to its roots by selecting unconventional venues in areas like Tottenham, Bow, and Curtain Road. In 2018, Crèche made a triumphant return to Ministry of Sound, reaffirming its commitment to eclectic electronic music and exceptional day parties, with a renewed focus on the melodic side of house that had been overshadowed by the Tech House boom. In 2024, Crèche Records was launched—delivering diverse and unique music to DJs globally, with support from many of the scene’s heavyweights. Celebrating its 16th anniversary in 2025, Crèche hosted a 13-hour outdoor dance at LDN East, blending classic sets from 2010–2015 with fresh music that fits the vibe. With a new winter home at the prestigious KOKO, Crèche has once again cemented its place at the forefront of London’s rave culture. Throughout its journey, Crèche has remained fiercely independent, resisting corporate influence and staying true to the values of authentic rave culture. With Alexis Raphael still at the helm, Crèche continues to inspire new generations of ravers, offering unparalleled experiences in London’s vibrant electronic music landscape.
