Concrete Breaks
Info
We are a rave and multimedia art collective named Concrete Breaks, specializing in breakbeats, garage, drum and bass, dubstep, and other forms of UK electronic music, and we are looking to throw events in Toronto during the coming year.
We began this project in August of last year, initially throwing renegade-style events, and have since hosted multiple successful shows in Montreal at Barbossa on Saint-Laurent, each drawing over 150 people and performing well in bar sales. These events now serve as the working model for what we are looking to bring to Toronto going forward.
The main approach to our events is creating a space that serves simultaneously as both an art exposition and a rave, with the earlier hours of the night focused on showcasing art submissions from local artists, before transitioning into a more dancefloor-driven rave as the night progresses. Cutting-edge bass music is the backdrop of the project, while broader themes such as escape, resistance, community, and free expression are the threads that run through every event.
