One of the original architects of Cape Town’s house movement, Dr Love helped spark the city’s underground dance culture through the groundbreaking Essential Mix and Global Groove parties of the late ’90s and early 2000s. A political-science graduate turned DJ, filmmaker and promoter, he built spaces where music crossed the lines that society couldn’t — bringing together crews, DJs and dancers from every background in a shared celebration of freedom and sound. Today, through Back to the Old House, he continues that legacy of love, unity and deep house energy that defined an era and still inspires the next generation.
