A techno artist whose story spans continents and multiple cultures, Zelda is far from your run of the mill club DJ. The Netherlands-based US ex-pat has always been influenced by electronic music on a profound level, drawing inspiration from Techno’s most influential figures. Rising out of the late ‘90s across the DC, Maryland and Virginia area of the US, Zelda initially built a vinyl sonic format of deep, melodic, and driving Techno. Less industrial, her sound has always been in tune with the more euphoric side of dance music - going hand in hand with the rave culture Zelda was born from. Her current digital sound incorporates hypnotic and darker grooves, reflecting her two decades of experience and proficient mixing technique. Some of Zelda’s most notable influences come in the form of Secret Cinema, Ben Klock, Speedy J, Len Faki, and Chris Liebing, among others. A plethora of inspiration, fusing the most iconic parts of today's Techno world along with the history that led it to be. A seasoned clubland regular, Zelda’s 90’s and 00’s performance resume includes the infamous Club Nation’s Buzz parties, The Edge, and Tracks in DC, Family Affair in Ohio, and Club Soma in Madrid. Spain. In 2019 she won a DJ mix competition at Club Magistrat in The Hague, Netherlands and played there regularly until the end of the year. In 2023, Zelda was invited to become a Resident DJ with the EAST Techno Collective of Amsterdam, and she now plays regularly at the historic ClubNL in the city center. Going beyond club appearances to her relationship with electronic music throughout the years, Zelda famously played a part in the protest against The Reducing Americans' Vulnerability to Ecstasy Act, commonly known as the RAVE Act, where she was a speaker at the Capitol in DC in 2002, and in 2000 she opened the first DJ school in the US: Metatrack Studios. She currently manages a multi-thousand member Amsterdam Techno Lovers Meetup, a group dedicated to exploring techno in Amsterdam and around the world. Zelda has remained present online by sharing her club and studio mixes - serving as a platform to express her standout musical taste. More than just a selector; a contributor to the electronic music community and a figure that instills genuine care for the togetherness that the culture itself brings.
