Nicolás Valdez, also known as Zedlav, is a Peruvian musician, producer, engineer, and DJ based in Barcelona. He is the founder of the collective ReConexión and the production studio Levitate Audio, and plays an essential role in the Lunario team in Peru and Fixion Wave in Barcelona. With strong influences from reggae, jazz, and rock, Zedlav has managed to fuse a variety of aesthetics and sonic currents, primarily rooted in Deep House, House, and classic 90s and 2000s Tech House. A musician and guitarist since his teenage years, he developed a deep passion for underground sounds, which was significantly reinforced during his university studies in music production. This led him to experiment with various ways of creating and interpreting music. He has over 30 releases on international labels such as Balance Recordings, Adeen Records, Conceptual, Whoyostro, Fine Music, ChiChi Music, I Want Music, CDP Rec, Offsite Records, Herloop, DMNT Traxx, No Preset, Miaw, Taika Records, Cavilar, Astral, Peruvian Sound, Matraca, and more. Zedlav has collaborated musically with living legends such as Chez Damier, Alex Kassian, Miki Gonzales, Pablo Moses, Iration Steppas, QOQEQA, Rebel-I, Alejandro Cuestas, and others. His versatility and experience on the dancefloor have led him to perform at some of the best clubs and venues in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Lima, Cusco, and more, sharing the booth with prominent artists such as Voigtmann, Sakro, Robert James, Ariel Rodz, Hamish & Toby, Felipe Valenzuela, Deaf Pillow, and others. Alongside Piero Casanova (a.k.a. Pishone), he is part of the duo “Surco’s Groove,” with whom he released his first vinyl record, "What is Love?", in the second half of 2022. The project was developed with the guidance of house legend Chez Damier. In 2024, they collaborated with Alex Kassian and Running Hot for the release of "The Love Theme" on the vinyl celebrating the 10th anniversary of the "Love on the Rocks" label, highlighting the timeless nature of their lyrical composition. Additionally, at the beginning of 2023, Zedlav mastered the vinyl and CD release "Akundún - 50 Años" by the legendary Miki Gonzales, with whom he frequently collaborates as a DJ and sound engineer.
