Zar (Arun Dhanjal) truly embodies the quality of eclecticism & versatility: he is the drummer for Noise Rock/Hardcore band Muscle Vest, a DJ/producer of electronic music influenced by all facets of UK electronic music, South Asian Music, Jazz, Deep House, Hip Hop and psychedelic aesthetics. He restlessly gives all of himself into everything he creates, so that the listener will have the same transcendent experience as he has in making the music. Previous releases have garnered support from DJ Mag, describing Zar’s debut EP release as “a striking solo debut that sets Zar out as an exciting prospect in the sphere in electronic composition”. Bandcamp also placed his debut EP in the “Best electronic music of March 2023” list. Support has also come from Jamz Supernova (Selector Radio), Raji Rags (NTS), SUCHI, Naina (Apple Music 1 Radio), Mafalda, Nabihah Iqbal (BBC Asian Network), GracieT, Chandé and Samrai (BBC Radio 6). Zar is part of the internal crew for DAYTIMERS, a collective championing South Asian artistry. He is also an awardee of the Rhythm Section Future Proof Scheme, receiving mentoring from SUCHI and support from the Rhythm Section family. Zar consistently showcases his versatility as a DJ through playing clubs (Phonox, Ministry of Sound, The Cause) to longer form sets (The Standard, London) as well as festivals (Brainchild Festival, Ravekjavik Festival Poland, Dialled in Festival). Zar is now gearing up to release his second EP “Unfurl” on The Tabula Rasa Record Company. It will be available across vinyl and digital on 26th October 2023.
