Woonjii is an eclectic artist who has made her mark in Hong Kong's vibrant music and arts scene, performing at prestigious venues like 宀 Club, Tai Kwun, and the first Asian Avant-garde Film Festival at M+ Art Museum. Alongside her performances, she also served as a guest speaker at the museum, sharing her insights on music and culture. Her unique artistry shines in her diverse performances. She has mixed cassettes and vinyl records to open for Berlin-based sound and installation artist MNNN at 20alpha, and in 2024, she performed a harsh noise live set using analog synths and drums as a supporting act for Franck Vigroux and December. Known for her leftfield, experimental, and industrial techno DJ sets, Woonjii's music collection is one of the most distinctive in Asia. Her library spans improvised jazz, rare experimental avant-garde, krautrock, dystopian sci-fi cosmic sounds, synth wave, underground Hong Kong alternative music from the '80s-'00s, and industrial techno released after the 2000s. In addition to her solo work, Woonjii founded yisekai, an experimental collective dedicated to ambient, drone, experimental music, techno, and IDM. The collective has hosted numerous events at venues such as ~ Club and Acadana, providing a platform for Hong Kong's talented producers and DJs to showcase their work. Before stepping into the DJ booth, Woonjii worked in music promotion and licensing, managing copyrighted music for retail brands across the Asia-Pacific region. The company she worked with eventually became part of Apple Music for Business. Her academic achievements are equally impressive-she earned an MA in Arts and Cultural Enterprise from Central Saint Martins, where her graduation thesis proposed innovative ideas for promoting music on social media and licensing through a blockchain-based decentralized system. Woonjii continues to push boundaries across music, performance, and cultural enterprise, cementing herself as a visionary within Hong Kong's creative landscape.
