virtue_signal aka Sam Haque is many things - DJ, producer, writer, and heathen who proudly calls New Orleans home. Born in Dhaka, he spent his early childhood years in Osaka and then the mid-Atlantic area of the US before eventually digging his roots into New Orleans. His origins in music & nightlife were on the dancefloor, a sacred space of free expression and catharsis. He started out as the sweatiest dancer in the New Orleans underground/DIY scene, and hustled his way through the community to take on a variety of roles - nightlife journalist, production assistant, and artist manager. Over time, he found his own voice as an artist, and continues to hone his craft on the decks as well as in the studio. A precise, relentless drive underlies his sound and playing style. Versatility and marathon set lengths are his calling cards, and he patiently churns out warm-up routines into towering, emotive crescendos over the course of several hours. He runs the BODY LANGUAGE series in New Orleans, bringing Southern body music to the masses while spotlighting fellow local creatives.
