Vesolo is the alias of the artist, DJ, producer and vocalist, Solo Matelau. Known for their blending of a highly contrasting selection, Vesolo creates an atmosphere unlike any other on the dance floor. Beginning their artistic career in New York City, Vesolo made an enigmatic name for themself playing as a live solo act at staple underground clubs such as Spectrum, HECK, and Secret Project Robot- eventually pursuing DJing and playing at nightclubs such as Knockdown Center, Nowadays and Paragon. Their sets have attracted attention from around the world and playing recently at Warsaw's queer rave 'Kem' and Paris's elusive 'Zhona' and with an upcoming Spanish tour playing at the iconic Razzmatazz and in Madrid at Skin the club. Musically they draw from their extensive classical music background, bringing a new take on where widely different genres of music can unite- techno meets opera, ambient meets house, metal meets electro. Their style is packed with energy and nostalgia, often quite dark but always experimental, bringing the listener on a journey from darkness to total bliss. Vesolo is dedicated to surprising their listener, and pushing their sets to be harder and harder to define.
