VERA SACRA

Verasacra (Emily Marks) is a producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Sheffield. A classically trained cellist, her songs elegantly strike a balance between modern, deconstructed dance and neoclassical influences. After attracting support from BBC Introducing in Sheffield for her acoustic-based songs, Emily decided to embark on a new musical turn as Verasacra after dreaming up the name one day in Vienna inspired by an art magazine there. Verasacra was chosen as a Launchpad supported artist in 2021-22, receiving funding and mentoring towards releasing an EP. Emily is currently working on an ethereal alt-pop EP interspersed with ambient and electro-inspired sounds. As a session cellist and vocalist, Emily has collaborated with artists such as fellow Sheffielder Yarni, with songs she worked on featuring on BBC Radio 6, Worldwide FM, Group Therapy and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Dance playlist.uring on BBC Radio 6, Worldwide FM, Group Therapy and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Dance playlist.
