Tyler Ov Gaia
Biografía
Tyler Ov Gaia is a cultural researcher, an essayist and a passionate DJ with an encyclopaedic knowledge of music history. His sets are renowned for their expansive influences and genre-bending rhythms.
As essayist he explores the themes of environmentalism, non-authoritarian tribal societies and utopian visions in history. Over the years, Tyler Ov Gaia has DJed in numerous cities, including London (invited by Elena Colombi), New York, Zurich, Madrid, Milano, sharing the bill with artists such as Lena Willikens, Rabih Beaini, Awesome Tapes from Africa, Ata, Even Tuell, John Talabot, Daniele Baldelli, Gabrielle Kwarteng, Donna Leake, Kassem Mosse, Mad Miran, Bradley Zero and Jayda G - to name but a few.
Tyler Ov Gaia loves long sessions. It is not uncommon to see him DJ 5 or 6 hours straight driving the dancefloor from ambient soundscapes to almost hypnotic ritual dances.
He performed an extended set in the Syrian pavilion at the Venice Biennale, playing the famous E2-E4 by Manuel Göttsching and editing it live with a line-up of eight musicians from the Middle East, including Israelis and Palestinians. The key to Tyler Ov Gaia’s quest is to create a unique sound flow bridging the gaps between different styles, genres and eras.
